I have been experiencing more beneficial attitudes and continuing to chew food until it is liquid. It is getting easier to remember to do enough chewing. Several times while eating, I found my mind wandering and that I was thinking about other things. Often times I was thinking about what I wanted to do after I finished eating. Once I noticed, I brought my attention back to the chewing and noticing the flavor, taste, and texture of the food in my mouth. It seems that staying present is the hardest part of this challenge for me. However, I am starting to notice the effects of this practice in my daily life- I am more present throughout the day, I don't react to things as much and I am a little more patient.
For the conversation for action- what I will not do is to eat while in a hurry, or to be impatient with myself on how much time it takes to eat. I will give myself the amount of time that it takes to eat.
For the strength of the structure of fulfillment, these are my thoughts.
The what- It is strong. I would like to add that I am doing this to care for myself, and to live a fulfilling life.
The who- It is moderate. To make this stronger, I would add that I am compassionate with myself but also determined to make it through the challenge, despite any difficulties that I encounter.
The possibilities- It is strong, I really resonate with these.
The opportunities- Here is an attempt to re-write one of them. I can see an opportunity to be more present with the people I encounter on a daily basis- friends, family, coworkers, and acquaintances. I have the time slow down and ask them or look at what it is that they want and need. I may need to work on conversational skills and reading facial expressions and noticing the direction of the conversation. In addition, I may need to work on how to make a strong commitment to doing this, as there will likely be some challenges and misunderstandings.
Realistically, I think I can improve on that with practice and guidance/ instruction/knowledge shared by others. The value is that I can potentially form stronger relationships with mutual trust and understanding.
Am I really committed to achieving better health? Yes, I am. I am feeling so much better already and I think that the inconveniences with this practice are very small compared to the benefits I have experienced. I think my past excuses for not doing things are kind of silly, and I don't like the idea of those excuses and attitudes running my life. I realize that the results may not be linear, and there may be "plateaus" where things seem to stay the same. However, I will be assured that I am doing something good for my body. So far my experience is that I am able to do so much more and have chances to experience abundant joy when I am well.
